Vertical/horizontal 1

Some time ago I reblogged a post from a thoughtful heart in Kansas — Harold “Doc” Arnett.  Although I frequently quote, I don’t often simply reblog an entire post from someone else.  I found, and still find, those thoughts uniquely worthy.  You might consider reading that post now.

When anyone worships anything, the former recognizes the greater, i.e., higher, position of the latter.  Remember that worship is vertical by nature.  A being recognizes something better, something higher, and lauds it.

Somewhere, I read this encapsulation of worship:

Worship is what you do when something has captured your heart.

Even there, in what we might call the “adoration” mode, there is a vertical sense.

Coming soon:  James MacDonald on this same “vertical-horizontal” topic

Thank you for this post, and — yes — that was a very well stated article from Mr. Arnett. 🙂

I’ll watch for it. 🙂 I blog on worship regularly, so I really enjoy seeing others doing the same.
